Introduction to Quilting. For totally beginner and advanced sewers wanting to learn the art of quilt making. Learn how to cut fabric and piece together your first quilt block. Class is one session - 3.5 hours. 

Introduction to Quilting. Learn how to cut fabric and piece together your first quilt block. The block design will be a classic 9-Patch. Versatile and the starting point for a wide variety of other Quilt building blocks. 


Objectives: and what you'll learn:

  1. Basics of building a quilt block
  2. How to cut fabric using a rotary cutter and quilting rulers
  3. Learn to sew a 1/4" seam allowance
  4. How to sew pieces together to create a quilt block
  5. Pre-Class for "Making your First Quilt - Q102"



Supplies and Tools (student brings):

  • Working Sewing machine
  • Rotary blade cutter 45mm 
  • Pins
  • Quilters Ruler 6x 24"
  • 18x24 cutting mat or larger
  • all-purpose thread neutral color

*Two coordinating Fat Quarters – provided by Second Spring Quilt Shop – included in fee.

**IMPORTANT NOTE**Logistics: Arrive up to 30 minutes before to save your seat and drop off machine and supplies. Parking is limited in the area.
